40% Of Families Covered By High Deductible Health Plans Delay Needed Care For Children With Chronic Health Conditions Due To Cost
Families in which a child or adult has a chronic health condition that are covered by a high deductible health plan (HDHP) reported delaying or never obtaining care at three times the rate reported by families covered by traditional health insurance plans. Cost was the primary factor cited for delaying or not obtaining care. The effects of HDHP enrollment on skipped or delayed care were similar for both adults and for children.
