FDA Approves First Medical Robot For Hospital Use
On January 8, 2013, InTouch Health announced it had received 510(k) clearance from the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) to market its RP-VITA remote presence telemedicine communications robot for active patient monitoring in high-acuity hospital environments where immediate clinical action may be required. These environments include pre-operative, peri-operative and post-surgical settings, including cardiovascular, neurological, prenatal, psychological and critical care assessments, and examinations.
