CMS Telepsychiatry Codes Revised For New CPT Coding System; Nine New HCPCS Codes Issued

On January 7, 2013, the federal Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) implemented new codes for Medicare telepsychiatry services to align with the American Medical Association’s changes to the Current Procedural Terminology (CPT) codes. In the calendar year 2013 Physician Fee Schedule, CMS has also proposed adding eight new codes for new distant sites for mental health and addiction treatment services.
