October 10 is World Mental Health Day. Every October, the World Health Organization observes this day to draw attention to mental health issues worldwide, “with the overall objective of raising awareness of mental health issues around the world and mobilizing efforts in support of mental health.” World Mental Health Day, and other education initiatives, are built on the idea that we need to do more to draw attention to mental health issues — including access to care, coverage and reimbursement issues, new treatment options, and the stigma surrounding mental health.
