How Do We Include Addiction In Care Coordination?
The dramatic rise in heroin and opioid-related drug abuse issues has been getting a lot of attention from everyone – politicians and policymakers, news and media outlets, payers and provider organizations (see The Politics Of Addiction). This rise in opioid addiction has resulted in a number of proposed solutions and recommendations, from calls for more spending on treatment, to increased education, to stricter prescribing rules. One additional recommendation has been on my mind this week – a push for greater ability to share addiction treatment data.
