Narrow Networks & Children’s Services: Another Perspective

The issue of “narrow networks” continues to get traction. I think that the efficiencies of consolidated service systems – like Kaiser, Geisinger, and UPMC – will continue to score well on “value.” As a response, insuring organizations with networks will enhance the evolution of their provider partnerships and value-based purchasing (through everything from ACOs, to medical homes, to tiering systems) in order to compete with the value of those systems – resulting in a natural narrowing of networks (see Narrow Networks Happening By Design & By Default).
