Justice Delayed Is Justice Denied
It's been over two years since the New Mexico Human Services Department (HSD) made the decision to halt all Medicaid, non-Medicaid, and State Coverage Insurance payments to 15 behavioral health provider organizations after an audit found claims and compliance documentation errors and potential fraud. This was an action that deliberately brought the end of organizations, of reputations, and of careers. My reaction was "unease" – Due Process Is Dead – because I'm a big believer in the presumption of innocence. That one should have a trial and be found “guilty” of something before punishment is exacted.
