Is One Set Of Performance Measures Possible?
Last week, a collaborative that includes America’s Health Insurance Plans (AHIP) and its member plans; leaders from the federal Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) and the National Quality Forum (NQF); medical societies; and employer and consumer groups; collectively known as the Core Quality Measures Collaborative, announced their first work product – agreement on common quality measures. These core measures fall in seven areas – accountable care organizations (ACOs), patient centered medical homes (PCMH), and primary care; cardiology; gastroenterology; HIV and hepatitis C; medical oncology; obstetrics and gynecology; and orthopedics.
