Ideas sometimes come from odd places. I was intrigued by a recent FastCompany piece, Church Giving Tops $50 Billion A Year In U.S.—And Its Future Is Not A Collection Plate. Or more precisely, I was intrigued by the $50 billion figure.
My takeaway? Traditional giving – passing the offering plate at services – has been decreasingly effective. And the key to success has been the creation of a new offering plate – an electronic, 21st-century offering plate.
