A couple weeks ago, Kaiser Permanente sent out a press release (Kaiser Permanente's Medicare Plan in California Receives 5-Star Rating all members) announcing that its Medicare health plan in the Southern California region received an overall rating of 5 stars for quality and service. Reading the release, two questions came to mind – What is a "5-star" Medicare health plan rating? And, as we have more transparency . . .
