To be a high-performing leader, speed matters: speed of thought, speed in planning, speed in decisionmaking, and — if need be — speed in taking action when the market suddenly changes in unforeseen ways. Many organizations are slow by nature, with executive teams that prefer to take their time, think through all the options, and come to consensus, without "rocking the boat."
