The Scattergood Foundation and The Kennedy Forum announced that Vinfen is the recipient of the 2015 Scattergood Behavioral Health Innovation Award for their app aimed at supporting young adults with emotional and behavioral challenges. The award recognizes programs and individuals working to improve diagnosis, treatment, destigmatization, and support for every American with a diagnosable behavioral health condition. In partnership with health care information technology company Wellframe, Vinfen developed the Smartphone application that combines Wellframe’s health care platform with Vinfen’s clinical content to help young adults with Serious Mental Illness (SMI) manage their health. As part of winning the award, Vinfen will receive $25,000 to expand the project. The app has three components:
- A personalized daily schedule that includes medication reminders, questions on emotional and mental status, clinical tools, and health related videos and articles
- A personalized “tool box” that contains young adults’ goals, their strengths and effective coping strategies, and problem solving techniques
- A content library that provides articles, video and audio links to a number of topics such as nutrition, safe sex, and personal safety
