UnitedHealth’s Optum & Summit Partners To Jointly Acquire Sound Physicians

Tacoma, Washington-based Sound Physicians is being sold to Optum and private equity firm Summit Partners. Sound Physicians is a physician-founded and led organization providing services across acute episodes of care including emergency medicine, critical care, hospital medicine, transitional care, and advisory services. The transaction is valued at $2.2 billion and Optum and Summit Partners will obtain a controlling interest in the physician-led staffing company.
