Thomas Jefferson Reaches Preliminary Deal To Acquire Einstein Healthcare
Thomas Jefferson University (Thomas Jefferson) recently reached a preliminary deal to acquire Einstein Healthcare Network (Einstein). Thomas Jefferson considers Einstein to be the missing link in creating a more expansive and accessible health system.
The acquisition—which would be the sixth by Jefferson since 2013—would grow the health system from three to 18 hospitals and result in about $6 billion in annual revenue. Einstein currently struggles to operate at a profitable level because nearly three-quarters of its revenue is from Medicare and Medicaid.
Thomas Jefferson University is a private university in Center City, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, United States.
