Medical device organization ResMed announced it is acquiring digital health startup Propeller Health (Propeller) for $225 million. It is anticipated that the transaction will be finalized by the end of March.
ResMed views the purchase as a significant step towards its goal of becoming the global leader in digital health for chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). On the other end of the acquisition, Propeller leadership states that the transaction will allow it to create better experiences and outcomes for people with chronic respiratory disease, accelerating the adoption of its solutions at a global scale. To date, ResMed has manufactured more than 6 million cloud-connected remote monitoring devices for individuals with sleep apnea and other respiratory illnesses.
The Propeller Health smartphone app works with the Propeller Bluetooth Sensor to allow consumers to view the data their sensor captures to give them personalized feedback and education on ways to improve their asthma control or COPD status. ResMed is a world-leading connected health company with more than 6 million cloud-connected devices for daily remote consumer monitoring.
