Private Equity Firm Acquires Hospice With High Nurse-Patient Ratio

Private equity firm Stonehenge Partners, Inc. (Stonehenge) recently acquired the Columbus, Ohio-based Queen City and Capital City Hospice. Financial terms of the purchase—which was facilitated by investment bank Footprint Capital, and initially announced in March—have not been disclosed.

According to statements from Stonehenge, the firm will allow the hospital to continue its approach of having nurses serve a lighter caseload of individuals than the industry norm. Specifically speaking, the hospice’s nurses typically serve a caseload of about seven or eight individuals, while other nurses in the industry typically serve a caseload closer to about 11 people . . .
