Optum’s Ventures division has joined in a $14 million round of funding for Mindstrong Health (Mindstrong). Mindstrong is developing technology that tracks and analyzes how smartphone users engage their devices to detect behavioral health issues. Mindstrong has studied the ability to build smartphone user profiles based on how often they use their smartphones, how fast they type when they use their phones, and even how often the use specific apps.
Mindstrong improves the life of people through noninvasive real-time assessment of brain health and lifestyle to measure neurocognitive function unobtrusively, continuously, and remotely to help cure neurodegenerative and neuropsychiatric disorders.
Optum provides expertise in pharmaceutical contracting, health economic and outcomes research, actuarial analytics, and health policy and regulation, as well as access to data required for exploration of these new models.
