Optum Acquires MedExpress

UnitedHealth Group announced its Optum division bought MedExpress, an operator of urgent-care clinics. MedExpress runs 141 urgent-care clinics in 11 states. MedExpress aims to open 25 to 30 additional clinics this year, which house practitioners who treat routine injuries and illnesses. Optum provides consulting, management and data analytics services to hospitals, payers and other health care companies. Financial details of the acquisition were not disclosed.
