NYC Health + Hospitals Increases Access To The Opioid Addiction Treatment Buprenorphine In All Five Boroughs

NYC Health + Hospitals recently announced it is expanding access to buprenorphine, an opioid medication used to treat opioid addiction. The health care system will make the medication available in 18 of its community and hospital-based ambulatory care centers.

Buprenorphine—which offers a lower likelihood of abuse and lower risk of overdose—will now be administered at these 18 clinics by trained clinical professionals. This expansion of services is anticipated to help battle the growing and ongoing opioid epidemic in the state.
