Mount Sinai Hospital recently signed a letter of intent with Slate Property Group to move its “Behavioral Health” program into Rivington House, a former nursing home facility. Slate Property Group is a vertically integrated owner, operator, and developer of residential and commercial real estate in the New York metropolitan area.
While mental health services are needed in the area, some advocacy groups are disappointed by the news, as they have been pushing for Rivington House to return as a long-term care nursing facility. Upon its controversial $116 million sale in 2016, 219 long-term care beds were lost. The facility had been operating as a skilled nursing facility since the early 1990s.
Mount Sinai Health is a New York City-based integrated health care system providing exceptional care to its local and global communities. Mount Sinai encompasses the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai and seven hospital campuses in the New York metropolitan area, as well as a large, regional ambulatory footprint.
