Medicare Advantage (MA) startup Devoted Health has begun offering its members with Apple Watch coverage. The new partnership has potential to set up technology opportunities with home care partners in the future. As part of Devoted Health’s coverage, the MA plan will cover up to $150 off the cost of an Apple Watch for its beneficiaries annually. Apple has steadily added features to its devices aimed at senior care including fall detection and specialized heart-monitoring.
Founded in 2017 by co-founders Ed and Todd Park, Devoted Health is a Medicare Advantage plan with 3,000 members and more than 200 employees across offices in Waltham, Massachusetts, and Miramar, Florida. According to Kenneth Baer, a spokesperson for Devoted Health, the company is looking forward to deriving new ways for keeping the aging population healthy through the collaboration with Apple. Additionally, according to Mr. Baer, the collaboration will further the mission of Devoted Health to continuously improve the quality of care.
