Non-profit health systems Marin General Hospital (MGH) and UCSF Health recently formed a strategic alliance that will expand clinical collaborations in Marin County, California. Both organizations have highlighted that the alliance is not reminiscent of a merger or acquisition.
According to statements from MGH leadership, the alliance will allow it to remain independent, as well as offer high quality and specialized medical services to consumers in the North Bay community. As part of the alliance, MGH has agreed to select UCSF as its primary academic and teaching partner, adhere to its guidelines for quality, and use its inpatient electronic medical record (EMR) system. On the other end of the alliance, MCSF will begin to integrate MGH-affiliated clinical professionals into its care delivery, help fund projects that are jointly approved by both organizations, and provide outpatient EMR records in MGH-affiliated offices.
