A new expansion coming to Lehigh Regional Medical Center addresses a major need in southwest Florida for mental health treatment. The medical center is transforming the third floor to a 35-bed in-patient care unit for behavioral and mental health services. The facility will not treat long term consumers, but they will open as an in-patient care facility with a variety of therapies including art therapy, recreational therapy, and group therapy as well as electroconvulsive therapy.
The facility will specifically treat individuals age 55 and over, but it will not be based on their insurance. The facility will focus on consumers receiving treatment in an enjoyable atmosphere, offering meals in a “family-like” group setting and daily activities to keep consumers active.
Lehigh Regional Medical Center, a member of Prime Healthcare, is accredited by The Joint Commission with the Gold Seal of Approval as an 88-bed acute-care facility.
