The Humana Foundation recently announced it is dedicating $7 million to address social determinants of health. The funding aligns with the organization’s goal of improving the health of the communities its serves by 20% by 2020.
The Humana Foundation serves as the philanthropic arm of Humana Inc., and seeks to ensure that every business decision Humana makes reflects its commitment to improving the health of its members, associates, and communities. Social determinants of health include income and income distribution, education, unemployment and job security, food insecurity, housing, and various other subjects. Specifically, nine organizations will be receiving the funding from Humana; those organizations include the following:
- AARP Foundation
- Family Scholar House
- Healthy BR
- InterFaith Health Clinic
- Metro United Way
- Older Adults Technology Services
- San Antonio Food Bank
- The University of Florida
- Wholesome Wave
