Highlands Center For Autism To Close At End Of Year
Highlands Health System recently announced that it will be closing its Highlands Center For Autism at the end of this year. The full time treatment center for children with autism has been serving families in the area since 2009.
The announcement comes as crucial individual and corporate donations to the center have begun to decline as the local economy has struggled. Additional complications have arisen since the implementation of House Bill 159 in the state, which is yet to deliver on its promised insurance coverage for the treatment of autism.
