Google Healthcare API recently launched a new cloud application programming interface (API) that seeks to address issues with interoperability within the health care industry. The tool, Cloud Healthcare API, collects various types of medical data using the cloud, and allows health care provider organizations and clinical professionals to access and manage that data.
Google anticipates that this move will provide provider organizations motivation to begin launching analytics and machine-learning projects in the cloud, allowing data to be used in order to identify patterns that can help to predict and improve health outcomes for consumers. Machine learning has already become a tool for clinical professionals to detect and diagnose certain medical conditions, as well as improve clinical trials. It is expected that Google will roll out the API over the next 12 months.
Google is an American multinational technology company that specializes in internet-related services and products. Google is also primarily known as the world’s most popular search engine.
