It was recently announced that billionaire Tom Golisano will donate $5 million to help build a new Pediatric Behavioral Health & Wellness Center. The new center will expand the University of Rochester Medical Center’s unit, and it will be a primary outpatient location for treating children with behavioral and emotional challenges.
The $10 million building will be near South Avenue and Science Parkway, next to the proposed location of the Golisano Autism Center. The construction for both centers will begin in the spring, and the Behavioral Health & Wellness Center should be open in 2019. Officials say that the new building will provide a new intensive outpatient service line will treat children with a higher level of care, while staying at home.
Tom Golisano is the founder of the private Golisano Foundation. The foundation is devoted to supporting programs for people with intellectual and developmental disabilities so that they can achieve their maximum potential.
