The Gateway Foundation Appoints Chief Medical Officer
The Gateway Foundation, the largest non-profit provider of addiction treatment services in Illinois, has appointed Dr. Roueen Rafeyan as chief medical officer. The foundation is the first rehabilitation center in the state to create such a position.
The position creation and appointment came in response to the U.S. Surgeon General report that substance abuse costs the U.S. more than $442 billion annually. The Gateway Foundation hopes to better address the problems of both costs, and substance abuse as a whole, by treating the addiction as a chronic disease under their new chief medical officer's guidance.
