Stimulus Package Includes $425 Million For COVID-19-Related Behavioral Health Needs
A new stimulus package (H.R. 748, the Coronavirus Aid, Relief and Economic Security (CARES) Act) has passed in the Senate and will now go to a vote in the House of Representatives. In addition to providing funding for health care professionals fighting the outbreak and helping employees and businesses impacted economically, the bill includes several provisions that will help people with addiction and the health care professionals who care for them. Congress has recognized that people with addiction are especially vulnerable during the crisis, and economic hardship is likely to expand the addiction crisis further.
