Blue Cross Blue Shield of North Carolina (Blue Cross) and health care provider organization Aledade are partnering to assist independent clinical professionals with technology and data analytics tools. The collaboration will focus on helping organizations become associated with an accountable care organization (ACO)—or systems where payment reimbursement scales with quality health care quality.
Through the efforts, Blue Cross hopes to help independent primary care practices overcome the barriers to providing value-based care—particularly in regards to lacking the size and resources to coordinate such care. Specifically, the partnership will allow primary care practices operating in the areas of family medicine, internal medicine, and general practice for adult care to join the ACO model in 2019. By doing so, new practices will have the ability to improve quality of care while reducing health care costs, with their clinical professionals having the opportunity to increase their reimbursement rates as they cut costs by improving the care they provide for health care consumers.
Blue Cross North Carolina is a fully taxed, non-profit North Carolina health insurance company with major operations centers in Durham, Fayetteville, Winston-Salem, and an office in Charlotte. Aledade, Inc. provides services to primary care clinical professionals to form and operate accountable care organizations in the United States.
