Apple Is Working With Stanford & American Well To Test Whether Its Watch Can Detect Heart Problems
Apple, Stanford University, and American Well are working together to test whether Apple Watch can detect abnormal heart rhythms, or arrhythmias, using its heart rate sensor. This information accompanies a recent Apple unveiling of a new Apple Watch version with wireless connectivity.
It is hoped that if Apple Watch’s heart rate monitor is sensitive enough, it could pick up on arrhythmias which would have otherwise gone undetected, and could be indicative of atrial fibrillation.
