18 Behavioral Health M&A Deals During First Quarter 2020, Up 20% Over Prior Quarter
Merger and acquisition (M&A) activity in the behavioral health care market increased 20% in the first quarter of 2020 with 18 publicly announced transactions, compared to the 15 transactions in the last quarter of 2019. Deal volume was up 29% over the 14 transactions announced in the first quarter in 2019. Of the 18 transactions during the first quarter of 2020, only one disclosed a transaction value, for $120 million.
During the first quarter, the deals involved inpatient psychiatric facilities, eating disorder treatment, and adolescent-focused services. The deal with an announced price involved Blue Sprig Pediatrics’ acquisition . . .
