COVID-19 Hospitalization & Death Most Common With Cardiovascular Disease, Diabetes & Lung Disease

Among people in the United States diagnosed with coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19), the most common underlying health conditions linked to hospitalization and death were cardiovascular disease (32%), diabetes (30%), and chronic lung disease (18%). Less common conditions with higher risk of severe outcomes included renal disease (8%), immune compromised conditions (5%), neurological/neurodevelopmental disability (5%), and liver disease (1%).
