Two-Thirds Of Older Adults Ineligible For Medicaid Have Assets To Pay For Two Years Of Long-Term Care
About two-thirds of older adults, with too many financial assets to qualify for Medicaid, have enough assets to pay for two years of paid in-home care, or for assisted living services. About half have enough income to cover two years of nursing home care. Few older adults with disabilities have enough income in retirement to purchase paid LTSS; most use savings to help pay for LTSS.
