Pennsylvania Skilled Nursing Facilities Medicaid Rates Fall Short By $48 Per Day
Pennsylvania's 321 skilled nursing facilities (SNFs) lose an average of $47.85 per day, or 15.3% on the average Medicaid SNF average payment. The average cost per Medicaid resident per day is $312.49, for which Medicaid pays $264.64. The shortfall totals an estimated $631.6 million annually.
Statewide, there are 534 SNFs, with 221 non-profit (41.4%), 292 for-profit (54.7%), and 21 governmental (3.9%) facilities. Capacity averages 134.5 beds per facility, with an average occupancy rate of 87.9%. The average Medicaid occupancy rate is 68.4%. The Medicaid payment shortfall . . .
