Recently, OPEN MINDS reached out to Bruce Bird, Ph.D., president and CEO of Vinfen, a Massachusetts-based provider of community-based services to people with intellectual and developmental disabilities and mental and behavioral health issues. Vinfen’s annual budget is $155 million, with $95 million focused on the Massachusetts psychiatric/mental health population, and about $16 million in Connecticut serving both I/DD and psychiatric consumers.

According to Dr. Bird, Vinfen operates about $45 million in long-term services and supports (LTSS) to I/DD, autism, and acquired brain injury populations in Massachusetts, serving about 1,100 consumers annually . . .
