American Health Care Act Of 2017

On March 6, 2017, the House Congressional Ways and Means and Energy and Commerce Committees released this first draft of the American Health Care Act (AHCA). The legislation has provisions to transform Medicaid to state block grant by 2020, as well as make immediate broad changes to the commercial health insurance individual and group markets. Although the AHCA’s stated purpose is repealing the PPACA, it retains a few provisions of the PPACA that have had broad popular support. In repealing the PPACA, the AHCA ends the individual mandate, along with the taxes that served as PPACA funding mechanisms . . .
