12th Annual Survey of U.S. Managed Behavioral Health and EAP Market Share Released

Gettysburg, Pennsylvania - OPEN MINDS announces the release of the Yearbook of Managed Behavioral Health Market Share in the United States 2000-2001. The new edition of this annual survey, which is scheduled for release in late July, has expanded information on:

  • Employee Assistance Programs (EAPs),

  • Payer types, and

  • NCQA accreditation

The OPEN MINDS Yearbook of Managed Behavioral Health Market Share in the United States 2000-2001 has been published since 1988. The data collected from the survey is used to define the behavioral health care market, analyze changes in market position, identify industry trends and determine which vendors have staked out a leadership position.

This is the first year that the survey has placed a heavy emphasis on the employee assistance program (EAP) market. In this new edition, the number of managed behavioral health provider organizations surveyed topped 675 — mainly as a result of the EAP-specific concentration. This expanded scope and the enhancements to the OPEN MINDS market share survey reflect an increased interest in EAPs among OPEN MINDS’ readers.

The OPEN MINDS Yearbook of Managed Behavioral Health Market Share in the United States 2000-2001 also includes a special section which evaluates the impact that internally-managed mental health programs offered by Health Maintenance Organizations (HMO) Programs have on the MBHO market.

As part of its survey process, OPEN MINDS obtained additional information on managed behavioral health services through a secondary survey mechanism. This additional information includes detailed information surrounding the various product lines offered as well as information regarding management of services. The product lines offered include:

  • Risk-based,

  • Non-risk,

  • EAP, and

  • UR/case management

The complete survey report, OPEN MINDS Yearbook of Managed Behavioral Health Market Share in the United States 2000-2001, which includes enrollment data, six-year trends summary, directory of organizations, presentation chart masters, and more, is available for $195. The survey data on CD-ROM is available for $395.
