62 Million Americans Will Have Expanded Mental Health & Addiction Disorder Benefits In 2014 Under Health Care Reform

As of January 1, 2014, about 62 million Americans will have expanded access to behavioral health services through their health insurance plan through the Essential Health Benefits provision of the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act of 2010 (PPACA). Under the Essential Health Benefits provision, 32.1 million people with and without health insurance will gain access to a health insurance plan that offers behavioral health benefits at parity with the plan’s medical and surgical benefits.
