Private Psychiatric Facilities Reported 5.4% Increase In Psychiatric Inpatient Days & 6.6% Increase In Outpatient Services In 2012

During calendar year 2012, facility members of the National Association of Psychiatric Health Systems (NAPHS) reported a 5.4% increase in psychiatric hospital inpatient days and a 6.6% increase to outpatient services utilization compared to 2011. The average length of stay (ALOS) reported by the 106 inpatient psychiatric hospitals and units that responded to the NAPHS survey in both 2012 and 2013 increased by 1.2%, from 8.4 days in 2011 to 8.8 days in 2012.
