Head Start Awards Competitive Funding Grants To 123 Organizations
On July 25, 2014, the federal Office of Head Start (OHS) announced it had awarded grants to 123 organizations to provide Head Start and Early Head Start services. Most of the awards were made as a result of the Designation Renewal System (DRS) Cohort 2 Competitions, a new mandatory competitive bidding process that requires low-performing grantees to submit proposals for continued program funding. DRS Cohort 2 included 123 low performing grantees. The grant awards run for five years; OHS has not released an aggregate value for these grants, and did not disclose what percentage of the organizations in DRS . . .
