ShareMaine Developmental Services Oversight & Advisory Board

On March 19, 2010, Maine was released from the Pineland Consent Decree filed in 1978. U.S. District Justice George Singal said the state was in substantial compliance with the updated consent decree terms of 1994 and that the state has mechanisms in place to ensure compliance in the future. Within 45 days, the state is to establish the Maine Developmental Services Oversight and Advisory Board. This new 15-member board will oversee services provide to all consumers served by the Maine Department of Developmental Services. This new board will replace the Consumer Advisory Board, which had provided similar oversight for services provided to the Pineland class members.
