ShareAmerican Health Information Community Successive

The U.S. Department of Health and Human Services seeks a private entity to create an independent public-private partnership to succeed the American Health Information Community (AHIC) organization. The goal is to develop an organization that can unite public, private, not-for-profit, and for-profit entities from all sectors of the health community and to establish leadership that will accelerate emergence of a nationwide interoperable health information system.

This is a recompetition of a prior funding announcement released on August 13, 2007. Organizations that submitted a proposal to the previous announcement may resubmit their proposals. All proposals are due by January 7, 2008. Awards will be announced by January 15, 2008, and the winning grantee will be expected to begin operations by spring of 2008. The transition of AHICs work to the successor organization will start by late fall 2008. The winning grantee will receive funding of up to $13 million to design, establish, and operate the new organization.
