ShareUnited States' Memorandum as Amicus Curiae in Support of Plaintiffs' Motion for Preliminary Injunction in Marlo M. & Durwood W. vs. Lanier Cansler & Karen Salacki, et al.

The United States Department of Justice filed a brief in support of maintaining community-based services for two adults with co-occurring intellectual disabilities and mental illness who received community-based support services through the Community Alternatives Program for Persons with Mental Retardation and Developmental Disabilities overseen by the Beacon Center Local Management Entity (LME) in North Carolina. The LME intended to cut the individuals' services and move them to more restrictive settings. The plaintiffs, assisted by Disability Rights North Carolina sued to maintain the services.
