Center for Consumer Information and Insurance Oversight Essential Health Benefits Bulletin

On December 16, 2011, the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services released a bulletin that provides information on their regulatory approach, in its plans to propose to define essential health benefits (EHB) under section 1302 of the Affordable Care Act. The EHB package has ten specified categories, all of which need to be covered with the benchmark plans of eligible citizens under the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act. The benchmark plans are still being constructed.
