Probation & Parole in the United States, 2008
The U.S. Department of Justice, Bureau of Justice Statistics collects data on the total number of adults supervised in the community
from January 1 and
December 31 of each year, and data on the number of adults who enter and exit supervision during the year. The surveys include all 50 states, the District of
Columbia, and the federal system. The 2008 Annual Probation Survey was sent to 467 respondents. Some states had multiple reporters. The 2008 Annual Parole
Survey was sent to 55 respondents; some states had multiple reporters.
