ShareMarlo M. & Durwood W. vs. Lanier Cansler & Karen Salacki, et al.

The lawsuit was filed December 11, 2009, by Disability Rights North Carolina to prohibit North Carolina and the Beacon Center Local Management Entity (LME) from ending community-based services for two adults with co-occurring intellectual disabilities and mental illness who received services through the Community Alternatives Program for Persons with Mental Retardation and Developmental Disabilities). The plaintiffs are members of the Thomas S. class settlement and are entitled sufficient support services to live independently in the community in the least restrictive setting.
