National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2012 Conference Report (House Report 112-329)
The National Defense Authorization Act for fiscal year 2012 contains information
in Section 713 about changes in medical licensing laws for telehealth services
provided by civilian professionals to service members across state lines . According to the
Act,
the location of services now means 'any location' instead of only the states where the medical
professional is licensed. In addition to members of the
armed forces, the exception has been expanded to include civilian employees of the Department of Defense, personal services contractors or other
health care professionals credentialed at a federal health care institution specially designated by the
Secretary of Defense.
