Questions and Answers for Rosewood Families
The Maryland Department of Health and Mental Hygiene responded to common
questions posed by families of Rosewood Center residents. The questions
include:
-
How can families decide the best placement for their loved one?
-
What will happen if families do not participate in planning for the
placement for their loved one?
-
How can families request to move their loved one to another State
Residential Center?
-
How does the State monitor the safety and health of individuals with
developmental disabilities who receive community-based services?
-
How is the State helping current Rosewood Center staff find employment?
-
I have heard that there only a few spots left at provider agencies for
Rosewood residents?
The state encourages families to start transition planning early to
ensure that they have adequate time to make a decision about a transition
plan to move family members to a community placement or another state
center. The state plans to close Rosewood by June 30, 2009.
