FY 2005: Report On Giving - USA Fact Sheet
The Association for Healthcare Philanthropy carried out its
22nd annual "Report on Giving" survey for fiscal year (FY) 2005. In
February 2006, 1,268 survey recipients in the United States were
e-mailed a unique link to the survey instrument. By the final
response date in April 2006, 327 useable surveys were returned for a
25.8% response rate. Key findings include the following:

Health care institutions raised an estimated $7.089 billion in
total funds during FY 2005. This total, which included cash and
pledges, was 16.3% higher than FY 2004 giving

Total cash at $5.105 billion, represented nearly three-quarters of
total funds raised

Included in total cash were sale of securities (4.3% of total
funds raised) and non-monetary gifts (.7%)
-
Nearly $2 billion of total funds raised was pledges, with the
major portion of that secured but not yet paid pledges (20.6% of
total funds raised)

Planned gifts secured but not yet paid represented over $400
million
